Features and Benefits
Overview
White goods applications that use potting for sealing protection are moving from through-hole mounting to SMT mounting due to lower processing cost. Molex has responded with the industry’s first SMT potting wire-to-board connector.
Potting materials expand and contract in accordance with heat shock condition during device operation, this generates stress on the solder joints and may cause solder cracking. Spot-On connectors feature center PCB nails to absorb the stress caused by temperature changes and protect SMT solder joints.
Incomplete terminal insertion can occur during the assembly process. Spot-On connectors feature TPA retainer that ensures secure terminal insertion.
Outer-locking connectors are susceptible to wire tangling that can break the latch. An inner positive-lock design protects the latch from breakage and provides space saving.
